'Is there a motive for
the escape clause
a pathway towards
some place beyond
the simple lies
told breathlessly
(so desperate for
their sweet relief)?
To push through
thick thicket branch
(flayed fabric,
skin that needs sewing)'
do i ponder
too much here
in these journal pages?
am I too often
focused on maybes
on the 'may very well be'?
a fading glow
the words become
harder to discern
'As the sun betrays the day
and night consumes the sky-'
it becomes more
difficult to write.
howling animals
insects keeping time
Is there a motive for the escape clause?
a reason for a pathway towards some place beyond the simple lies?
the more complicated ones, too?
you go into the woods to
find yourself
based on a middle-school understanding of
self deprecation.
and you came out here for something else.
to write. to work through it.
push through the
thick thicket branch
the wounds will heal
no one bothers
to clarify that
the thicket grows back too
'sun's gone out
cold again
but not interested in moving
but we do what we must.
