I find it
hard to suspend disbelief
in a world with pervasive verisimilitude
I hold the screen up to my eyes and I cannot detect the pixels
and its vistas are mathematically perfect
so I scan the horizon
a sterile landscape with infinite draw distance
I refuse to accept it
as the world beyond its glowing plane falls into disrepair
soon they will be all we have left
these virtual utopias, expanding to fill the void
our senses will betray us
all made redundant by the impossible worlds we've built for ourselves
As the world outside becomes smaller
the screen swallows us whole
and we all become believers
