Strong winds will sway this home
built of wood in lieu of stone
but winds cannot displace my heart
and they have said that it is where my home resides
the snow and sleet and rain and ice
the retail job
the inadequate paycheck
the loneliness
the misplaced affections
the uncertainty
about both my future
and my family's
the addictions
the lack of time
to see those I care about
the stressful season
none of these things can keep me from this
the one time of year
when I can let go of all of my troubles
and embrace the comfort of a loving family
of friends
in the brightest of moods
and the most relaxed.
my holiday will find me
despite the strong winds of circumstance
and I hope yours finds you.
