Truffaut's Grave

Standing over Truffaut's grave
not his real one
just a picture
one I can place next to Fellini's
and then we'd talk and laugh
I'd have a smoke
singing their praises
and telling them of my wild truths

I'd wait for a while
hoping to feel a presence
a spectre shifting
their right arms
raised in a silent salute

I will do something
great or not
it will be an expression of all of this

Fellini silently reminds me
that it is impossible to escape your life
in your work
but that's a blessing

I raise my right hand like I used to in scouts
and I solemnly swear to never forget it
And I salute
and I turn
and I leave the two to rest
